KCNC disc brake rotors, manufactured by Ashima, are available in 160mm and 180mm diameters. Ashima rotors are manufactured to be lightweight, yet durable. Other manufacturers will integrate materials such as titanium and carbon fiber into their rotor designs to save weight, at the expense of reliability and wear life. Ashima's rotors are manufactured from a durable grade of stainless steel designed specifically for disc brakes; the weight savings comes from aggressive (and stylistic) machining. The enlarged holes in the rotor additionally act as vents which aid in heat dissipation. The surfaces are double ground to keep both sides of the rotor completely parallel. No special pads are required for use with these rotors.

Updating the Race Guard was never going to be easy. It had served us well for 11 years, and was still the market leader. Basic market research showed us that the update had to include a fast-fitting, simple fixing system. It took us about 2 weeks to come up with the one-bolt solution. After 3 months of tweaking and prototyping we were ready to start the tooling.

Seeing as we had updated the Raceguard, we thought we might as well do a number on the Crud Catcher as well. We basically took the futuristic shape of the old ZX Crud Catcher, and crafted a soft nose on it. While we were at it we put some protective cushioning between the frame and the blade, and moved the fixing lugs to accommodate fatter frame tubes.
